The training workshops in R programming and machine learning, organized by Professor Venkata Manem, have recently been highly successful. These workshops provided participants with practical skills in key areas of biology and medical imaging, focusing on the use of R for data analysis and the application of machine learning techniques to enhance healthcare.
The first workshop introduced R programming for biologists, covering essential skills such as data analysis, generating plots, and writing basic functions. Participants learned how to use R for statistical tests, file operations, and downloading genomics data from public databases through hands-on exercises.
The second workshop focussed on the application of artificial intelligence approaches in medical imaging. Participants gained insights into radiological and whole -slide imaging profiles, the DICOM format, and worked with advanced deep learning models using PyTorch to develop digital biomarkers.
These workshops combined theoretical learning with practical applications, providing valuable experiences for participants from diverse backgrounds. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees praising the high-quality instruction and resources provided throughout the events.
The feedback from participants has been extremely positive, highlighting the quality of the teaching and resources. The CRC thanks Professor Manem for his leadership in organizing these workshops, as well as all the contributors who took part!
